SEDA Show & Tell 2012
Wednesday 5th December 2012 from 5.30pm – 9.30pm
Lecture Theatre, Mackintosh Building, School of Art, 167 Renfrew Street, Glasgow G3 6RQ
Following the continued success of this annual get-together – not just as a popular social event but as a fantastic showcase for members work and projects – this year’s SEDA Show and Tell will be held again in Glasgow. As with last year it will still be term-time and we hope that this will encourage even more members to come along to meet each other and hear about our projects and activities – with food and drink as well of course. Additionally we hope that new members will be able to join us at the event to tell us all about what they are all doing, why they’ve joined and their ideas for future collaborative working.
Once again we will be in the lovely Mackintosh lecture theatre at the Glasgow School of Art - a truly fabulous place for us all to get together - where we shall be combining presentations with the chance to chat, socialise and partake of refreshments together.
Although you DO have to be a SEDA member (or part of a company membership) to give a talk, you don’t have to be a member - or to give a talk - to join us for this event. This is open evening: members, their friends, and anyone interested in ecological design is welcome to come along. Students are particularly welcome. There will be small charge to cover the costs of making the arrangements and for providing food and drinks for everyone.
The Show and Tell is an increasingly popular and well-attended opportunity for members to talk about their current work, ideas, dreams, activities or projects. The ground rules for presentations are simple: three slides and no more than five minutes for each contributor. Each slot will be timed!
If you'd like to give a presentation then please send your three slides in JPEG or PDF format, with your name and the title of your talk to Matt Bridgestock (email@example.com ), who has agreed to collate the slides beforehand into a computer-based show for the evening.
You must make the filename of your images the name you would like to credit followed by the number (1,2,3), for example: mattbridgestock_1.jpg. Please try to keep the file sizes as small as possible without losing resolution. As this is such a popular event we have already received notice, and information, for a number of talks but there are still some slots remaining so do hurry!
Slides should reach Matt by Friday 30th November.
PLEASE NOTE! A selection from the evening's presentations will be included in a Members’ Gallery on our website as well as in future issues of SEDA magazine. We will assume that you are giving us permission to do this when you send your images. If you do not want us to use the images for the website or the magazine, please include a note to this effect in your email.
An outline programme/ timetable for the evening is as follows:
1700-1730: Setting up for the evening
from 1730: Meet up for informal chatting, drinks, snacks & preparation for presentation
1815: Welcome to everyone, summary of recent events, notice of forthcoming events for the diary!
1815-1945: Presentations by SEDA members, and from ERN and AECB members
1945: Refreshments (food + drink) more networking, chatting, etc
2100-2130: Close and clearing up
Booking your place
This is very popular event and, although we have a larger venue than in previous years, the number of people we can accommodate is limited by the capacity of the theatre. So, to make sure you have a place and that we have made provisions for everyone to eat and drink on the night, please let Mary Kelly know if you are planning to come along as soon as you can - and whether you'll be giving a talk or not. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
See you there!
