Ecological self-build house open day
Saturday 14th September 12 to 4pm and Sunday 15th September from 12 to 3pm
Belford, nr Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland, NE70
The house, which is owned by two architects and long-term SEDA members, will be open to the public on Sat 14th/ Sun 15th as part of the nationwide English Heritage Open Doors weekend event happening between 12th-15th Sept. Self build house under construction, (phase 1 complete; phase 2 on site), using local timber, sheep's wool insulation, wood-fibre board sheathing; triple glazed windows and a sedum-planted roof. Passive solar and wood burning stove. Low energy costs. Children are welcomed along with all other visitors but we have not made any special arrangements for them. All children MUST be supervised at all times on site and during the visit by their parents or accompanying adult(s).
Access: Disabled access to site but not yet to house.
Additional information: Tea & biscuits (homemade) offered - donation(s) requested to cover costs. Printed handouts providing some outline project & construction details as well as information on the materials, suppliers, products used are available in leaflet form to all visitors. Publications describing the method of construction will be on sale during the day.
