IMPORTANT CONSULTATION - ARCHITECTS REGULATION AND THE ARCHITECTS REGISTRATION BOARD


The (English) Government is currently consulting architects and stakeholders about the future of the Architects Act and the Architects Registration Board through the DCLG (Department for Communities and Local Government). This affects ALL UK Registered Architects and people involved in architectural education/ currently studying so PLEASE make sure your views are included! Your thoughts on the importance of continuing to provide an impartial registration board (seen and understood to represent the consumer/ be separate from the profession) is a key element to this consultation - see topic/ Q3 below.

 The consultation asks a number of questions broadly covering the topics below and responses are required by 30th May 2014.

1 Should architects continue to be regulated? (registered/discipline/qualifications)
2 Should architects be protected by title and / or  function or role?
3 Should architects be self regulated or should regulation be by statute
4 Questions about the current  function, performance and services of the ARB
