Thurs 22 February 2018

  • Can larger building projects really contribute to sustainability?
  • What options for building designers and construction managers?
  • What tools and what approaches can help keep projects on track?

The Scottish Ecological Design Association and EUSAS invite you to join an informal blether / information sharing session over a drink and an informal meetup. Led by specially invited practitioners (Contractrors, Engineers, Architects) who have been involved in trying to put sustainable design into effect in larger companies and projects, the evening will look to discuss the hurdles, opportunities and strategies that can be most effective to make construction in Scotland greener.

Free entrance – there will be light refreshments available for donation.

Speakers on the night:

Karen Coultard has 15 years’ experience as a multi-disciplinary practitioner (Contractor, Architect, BREEAM Assessor, Adaptation Planner), researcher (MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation Planning at CAT) and lecturer (Edinburgh College of Art). As the Sustainability Manager of GRAHAM Construction, Karen has developed their strategic approach to achieving potential carbon neutrality.

Richard Atkins is a Chartered Architect who designs sustainable buildings and advises clients, government and stakeholders.  A long-time champion of SEDA and active in advocating sustainability in the profession, Richard recently completed a PhD entitled 'Assessing Environmental, Social and Financial Sustainability in the Existing Built Environment'.  He has views on how companies can be incentivised to do the right thing.

Ingrid is a member of the Heriot-Watt University Industrial Advisory Panel for the Architectural Engineering programmes.
