Our annual Ecological Cycling and Walking tour which this year has been set around Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula.
Peninsula Expedition builds on last years very enjoyable Island Expedition held on Bute when cyclists and walkers spent their September Weekend visiting buildings and projects with an emphasis on all things sustainable. We will be joined again by Archi-velo from Glasgow for our visit to Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula where we will set out two routes, one focusing on a shorter journey with the Burgh of Dunoon suitable for walks and a longer cycle route which takes in the wider area. This will include Queens Hall, Dunoon Burgh Hall, Fyne Homes Passive House 'Tigh-na-Cladach', Benmore Botanic Gardens and Kilmun Parish Church.
The Scottish Ecological Design Association produced an Island Expeditions Tour Map for our adventures in Bute, and will prepare a similar map for Peninsula Expedition in Cowal which will be available before the event. The Island Expedition maps can be downloaded at the links below. When the Peninsula Maps are complete they will be capable of being added to the Island Expeditions maps to complete the Three Ferries Cycle Route between Wemyss Bay to Rothesay, Rhubodach to Colintraive and Dunoon to Gourock.
Additional Information including health and safety will be included in the map which will be available for download ahead of the event. Participants will be required to provide their own bycicle / equipment and ensure all is in good order. Snacks and a light lunch will be provided.
